For my humanities 11 class, students were tasked with learning about five different empires, taking those empires’ greatest strengths, and amalgamating them into a single fictional empire. In my group, I was tasked with researching the Omani empire. Once the rest of my group finished our research,we exchanged the information that we learned about each of the empires. Once we all had adequate information about the empires we made and presented our slideshow to a small panel of fellow students.
During this project, I learned many 21st century skills. Firstly we learned global awareness, when we showcased a deep understanding of the cultures we were assigned to learn about. We also advanced our communication skills when we were able to effectively communicate with our peers and audience. Finally, we learned interpersonal skills when we worked together with efficiency and cooperation. The best part of this project was the way my group and I were able to learn from each other's countries. The hardest part of the project was making the slideshow.Overall, if there was one thing I could change, I would add more fantastical elements to our fictional empire. |
